The Digits: Fraction Blast 12/17/12

The greatest unknown band in the galaxy, THE DIGITS, is on a mission to stop the evil Marvwell Doomfinger III. He’s the boss at Doomfinger Records and is using music to make the galaxy stupider. This app was designed by a 20 year veteran teacher and is recommended for ages 7 and up. You only get part 1 free and for $2.99 you can purchase the second half and conclude the story. This app is available for iOS 4.0 or later and Android 2.2 and up.

This math app entertains students with a story while they practice fractions. Typically the player is dividing objects into halves in this ‘app-isode’.This app was just released on November 12th and has a bit of a “Mystery Science Theater” feel to it.

It doesn’t require internet access to run but every so often the app will prompt you to sign in so children can report their progress to their parents. Creating an account or signing in is not required to play. If you can’t watch the entire video in one setting then your place is saved (roughly) and a ‘Jump To’ feature allows you to pick back up from where you left off. If you haven’t reached their built in stops then you may have to re-watch a bit of the video.

This app only plays in horizontal orientation and it’s ‘flipped’ so the volume is at the top, and magnetic cover is at the bottom. So, you won’t be able to use your magnetic cover as a stand to angle your iPad while using this app.

There’s more episodes to watch and their available on YouTube.

Titles/Topics include: Telling Time, Measuring Angles, Attack of the Variable Virus ,Rays and Degrees. There are 19 videos in all on the ‘FUNDAWatch’ channel and you can access them online here:
