Skitch 10/11/12

skitch iconI came across an article titled “13 Must-Have Gadgets and Apps for Educators”. Hall Davidson’s name was mentioned so I knew it was going to be a ‘certain’ read. Leslie Fisher, a former K-12 senior systems engineer at Apple, was a co author of the article and Leslie pointed out her favorite web 2.0 tool: Evernote. I’ve covered Evernote as an app in the past and read that Skitch supports Evernote. Actually, if you go to Skitch’s website, you’ll see that it has been acquired by Evernote. Evernote helps you remember everything. Skitch helps you draw attention to anything.

Skitch is free and is available for Android, iOS and Apple Computers. Here’s what you can do with Skitch:

  • Annotate: Add arrows, shapes and text to existing images
  • Create: Draw something new
  • Edit: Reposition, recolor and remove your annotations at will
  • Share: Send your sketches and annotations over Twitter and email
  • Present: Show your work in real time via AirPlay on Apple TV
  • Remember: Save everything to Evernote for later

I have used another annotation app in the past titled NeuAnnotate PDF. It’s great for annotating PDF files and Skitch is great for annotating images. NeuAnnotate PDF now costs $1.99 and you can find out more about it in my App Archives.
