Drag & Drop Questions in moodle

Interest has increased in Drag & Drop question types in moodle. This is due partially to the upcoming PARCC tests. Testing on a computer will be new for many students and they will encounter several methods to answer questions, Drag & Drop being one of them. Teachers using moodle can offer their students the opportunity to practice answering several Drag & Drop style questions before the test. The following question types can, and may already be, installed in your moodle site. Contact the TCCSA PD team for more information on installing, and learning how to use, Drag & Drop questions in moodle quizzes.

Drag & Drop Marker Questions

The most difficult question type out of the group, this question type requires an image that is no larger than 400 pixels by 600 pixels. This question type uses 'drop zones' like the image type question but with added complexity. The teacher has control over the size and location of the drop zone on a grid that appears while editing. This is ideal when areas of the image are not the same size. Students practice dropping markers onto the image in a general area. Another term for this question type could be 'Hot Spots'.

Options include:

  • Each choice can be set to 'infinite' so it remains in the word bank.
