Alphabet Sites

  1. Reaching Out: The Evolution Of Communication [*] - learn about the evolution of human communication. This great ThinkQuest site covers cave drawings, alphabets, human languages, computers, writing, and much much more.
  2. ABC Mommy and Me - watch animations of upper and lower case letters and hear them say their names in this Lil Fingers Storybook.
  3. ABC Order - learn the alphabet and the order of the letters playing this game.
  4. ABCs of Jordan - from "A" is for Amman to "Z" is for Zarka Main, including pictures and descriptions. From Mrs. Habib's 2nd grade students in Amman, Jordan.
  5. Alpha Home - have fun with alphabet and spelling games, get an Alpha screensaver, or find a penpal.
  6. Alpha-Bestiary - click on a letter to see the Alpha-Beasts that start with that letter. Watch a slide show of illustrations or submit your own drawings. From Environmental Defense.
  7. Alphabet Action - click on a letter to hear it out loud, see it used in a word, and see a picture.

  15. Evolution of Alphabets - these neat animations show how various alphabets and characters developed from earlier ones.
  16. Infostuff: Kid's Stuff - learn how to recycle old paper into new, make paperweights, or look through an animal alphabet book.
  17. Jazzles - take a tour of this musical site with Tazzle the Tiger. Learn songs for each letter of the alphabet, listen to animal sounds, and color fun pictures.
  18. Joshua's World - read the ABC's from the perspective of a severely mentally and physically handicapped child.
  19. KidForms - letter finds and word searches to print.
  20. LiteracyCenter.Net - check out these multimedia early reading, writing, colors, and math lessons in English, French, German, and Spanish.
  21. Mrs. Madden's Kindergarten Class - a kindergarten class from Perkett Elementary School in Minot, North Dakota put together this interactive virtual alphabet.

  26. Reading Room, The - find book reviews and enjoy recess with activities like coloring, origami, letter sounds, and more. Includes info about this show that airs in northern California too.
  27. Sesame Street Print and Play - printable coloring pages for preschoolers featuring Sesame Street characters with letters, numbers, and shapes.
  28. Swahili Alphabet Book - from A to Z, hear each Swahili word and see its illustration created by a fourth grade class in Oregon.
